Attendees from over 50 countries convene in Barcelona to shape the future of e-Commerce A relevant event, with engaged participants
From May 29th – June 1st, Barcelona’s CCIB convened key international e-commerce executives to prepare for the future of cross-border e-commerce at the Global E-commerce Summit. Speakers, delegates, and sponsors alike, contributed to the event with rich content and insight during keynotes and panel sessions; an open exchange of ideas during networking sessions; and tons of great dialogue on the internal GES App .
Industry Leaders Take the Stage in Barcelona
Among the international keynote speakers were Marlene ten Ham from Ecommerce Europe providing “hot off the press” data from their latest European B2C report; Jonathan Chippindale from Holition introducing food for thought on the 4th industrial revolution , and Cheng Ouyan from Alibaba offering insight into Alibaba’s 3-prong ecommerce and China’s efforts to transform into an internet economy.
Last year’s success meant the event organizers had a tough act to follow, but they rose to the challenge to produce an event that struck a balance between timely information and aspirational foresight.
“Being part of this event allowed me to dive into the e-commerce sector. I found the innovation driving the sector inspiring and fascinating!” Katrina Sichel, Director Burton Marsteller
“This year’s event brought forward the very latest facts and figures as well as trends for the European and global e-commerce industry. We will certainly discuss the points raised here during our BeCommerce Logistics Congress on 22 June.” Carine Moitier, Director of BeCommerce, National Association Member of Ecommerce Europe
“I was excited to listen to today’s Alibaba keynote. He offered insight that I can take back and share with my clients, especially from an FMCG perspective. The international dimension of the speakers and event provides tangible information for developing markets both in Europe and beyond.” Anna Lasmanowicz, E-commerce Consultant with Hypermedia.
Aarstiderne, Zalando, and adidas, walked away respectively with Entrepreneurial, Pure Player, and Omni-channel top honors at this year’s 6th annual European E-commerce Awards, hosted by Ecommerce Europe and the Global E-commerce Summit. The awards promise to be even more engaging next year, with an invitation extended to delegates to nominate retailers for next year’s Pure Player and Omni-channel awards — a huge motivation for attending retailers to participate in next year’s competition and further develop their own on-line and omni-channel capabilities.
